Whipstaff Manor is a mansion in Friendship, Maine haunted by Casper and the Ghostly Trio: Stinkie, Stretch, and Fatso.

History[]

The manor was originally owned by the McFadden family and, following the incarceration and death of Casper's father J.T. McFadden, it was uninhabited by living people for about a century before it was inherited by Carrigan Crittenden from her late father. However, the the Ghostly Trio scared away anyone who tried to tried to remove them or demolish the manor until Casper managed to encourage Carrigan to hire psychiatrist Dr. James Harvey who brought along his daughter Kat. Kat later hosted her school's Halloween party at the house when the asbestos removal from its gym was taking two months longer than planned.

Architecture[]

Brad Silberling, the director of the 1995 film wanted Whipstaff Manor to look unusual and not like the stereotypical haunted house which is Victorian. Production designer, Leslie Dilley suggested Gaudiesque architecture inspired by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi (1852-1926) who was the greatest exponent of Modernisme with his work Casa Batlló in Barcelona having a huge influence on Whipstaff Manor.[1]
