Casper the Friendly Ghost Wiki

Transcript[]

{Cartoon opens to see glowing eyes at a dark & misty, foggy swamp.}

Narrator: Now, isn't this a perfect setting for a spine-tingling ghost story? (camera begins panning) Well...strangely enough, this is a ghost story. (Bats appear out of nowhere. Sound effects of going "eek eek" is heard.) Do you scare easily? Do you have nightmares? Do shadows on the wall frighten you? (laughs, and camera pans to a ghost cemetery) Well, relax! This isn't that kind of a story. (Transition dissolves to see Casper the Friendly Ghost reading a book by one of the graves in the cemetery.) And just to prove it, let me introduce a ghost that is out of this world! His name was Casper.

(Camera shot shows Casper reading a book about animal friendship. Each ghost rises out of the dirt by the grave, and takes a big yawn, then mocks the crows of a good morning rooster. Other ghosts appear out of the cemetery, which arose. All the ghosts are preparing to scare the daylights out of people.)

Narrator: Every night with the rise of the moon, Casper's neighbors go off on their job of scaring the daylights out of people.

Ghost: Contact!

(All the ghosts imitate World War II planes, they take off. Casper watches them, but one ghost is saying "boo, boo, boo" and he's pretending to be riding on a bicycle then accidentally blowing out the candle.)

Ghost 2: Come on, Casper! Time to go out them boo people! (laughs) There's good boos tonight! Boo, boo!

(A camera shot shows a group of ghosts coming across the clouds. Then it pans to see a neighborhood. The ghosts imitate falling raindrops that speeds them up. Transition dissolves again to see Casper peeking at a grave and is refused to scare, he's shaking his head in disbelief.)

Narrator: Casper doesn't want to go out and boo people! He wants to be friendly. (Transition dissolves to see Casper exiting the ghost cemetery and closing the gate, still shaking his head.) Casper sees no future in this sort of life, so he decides to go out and make friends.

(Cut to Casper wandering out in the farm. He sees a calf having fun of his drink in the barrel.)

Casper: Uh, what's your name?

(Suddenly, the calf becomes frightened. He runs inside the barn.)

(A giant cow appears and rushes to Casper.)

Casper: Um...I'm Casper.

(This made the giant cow getting frightened, and speeds quickly and jumps all the way to the moon. Casper is lonely, but sees a skunk. Casper begins to follow it on all fours, until the little skunk stops.)

Casper: Uh, can we be friends? Huh?

(The skunk becomes frightened too, and zips away. Smoke dust covered Casper. Cut to Casper getting washed in a barrel of bath, and holding a brush. Casper dries himself off through the ringer. After that, he sits himself down on a log and begins to cry. Being a little ghost is tough when you're still young and friendless. His sobbing attracts that of a fox cub, inside the hollow log, as it hears Casper, it feels sad too and begins to shed a few tears, it hates seeing someone else sad. As Casper continues to cry some more, the cub nuzzles up to Casper as if to comfort him. As he does, Casper feels and hears the little fox and suddenly, he's sobbing as the cub nuzzles him.)

Casper: [stuttering a little] A-aren't you...a...a...a...scared me of me? [The cub nuzzles up more licking Casper in the face, causing him to laugh. He's feeling much better now.] You're a cute little fox! [With that, the little cub rushes off again, why? Casper watches as the little fox cub rushes over to a bush with a stick in it's mouth and comes rushing back to Casper.] Oh, so you want to play with me! All right!

(Casper is delighted that the cub offers a game with Casper, he hops off the log, tears now dried and he begins to play a game of fetch with the frisky little cub. Casper chucks the log and the cub comes back as Casper claps happily. He tries to take the stick again from the panting but the frisky cub won't give in, growling playfully. The little fox rushes off again, and stops, wagging it's tail, giving Casper a chance to follow him. The little cub rushes off and jumps over a wall, hoping Casper won't find him. But Casper is too clever for the fox, he walks through a wall and he creeps up behind him and grabs the stick. The little fox sees this and playfully leaps into the ghost's arms, dropping the stick in the process, Casper laughs again at the fox's licks. He is definitely much happier than he was earlier.)

Casper: You're my best friend, so I'll give you an extra special name. Erm...Ferdie! [The little cub's delighted with his new name]. That's it, Ferdie Fox!

(Later on, Casper's playing hide and seek, he's counting while Ferdie hides.)

Casper: Err...one, two, three, four, five, six, seven...(he looks up to make sure Ferdie's going to hide), err, eight, nine, ten eleven, twelve, thirteen...

(Ferdie has soon rushed out of sight away from Casper to find somewhere to hide. He hides in a large, bush, he sticks his head out the bush and back in again. He's found a hiding place. Not too far, a man riding a horse is out with his two hounds, they are hunting dogs and this mean fox hunting is wafting in the air. This also means trouble and danger for Ferdie. As the dogs sniff their way around, close to the bush, Ferdie emerges and spots the hounds, he's shocked and soon makes his way out of the hiding place. As he runs off, the dogs are alerted, barking and give chase, followed by the hunter on horseback. Ferdie is in trouble. Meanwhile, Casper is still counting.)

Casper: ...fifty nine, sixty, sixty three, sixty six, sixty...(suddenly, the sound of gunshots ring in the air, this alerts Casper. He stops counting on hearing the commotion. As he looks, he spots the hunter on horseback, he's shooting at the cub, with the dogs by his side trying to catch him.) Oh, they're after Ferdie!

(Ferdie makes his way to a large river, he leaps onto the rocks over a waterfall, he almost slips and falls in, but he won't give up on the chase. He almost goes over the waterfall and pulls himself onto the bank, all wet. He is now exhausted. But the hounds have followed him and picked up the scent, and go into the same direction Ferdie is. Meanwhile, Casper is flying to the rescue trying to catch up. Ferdie runs over a wall. Followed by the dogs and the horse. The hunter begins to shoot again at the cub. Ferdie rushes past Casper, not stopping. Casper lands and puts his hands out. Bullets flying past Casper's body, they can't hurt him.)

Casper: Stop! Stop! Don't hurt my Ferdie, he's my friend!

(When the dogs spot Casper, they slide and try to stop on their tracks, turning white with fear. The hunter on horseback too stops.)

Hunter: (gasps) A ghost!

(With that, the hunter, the dogs and the horse flee in terror at tremendous speed. Casper mops his brow, breathing a sigh of relief, turns round to tell Ferdie the good news.)

Casper: Ferdie, Ferdie! They're gone, where are you? (he stops in his tracks, Casper has made a rather upsetting discovery) Ferdie...Ferdie, are you all right? (he picks him up, but there's a problem, Ferdie's life has expired, he had been shot by the hunter, Casper's distraught) Oh, Ferdie! (with that, Casper breaks down into tears, this time, he's very upset. He carries the little fox off as he sobs). The only friend I ever had in my whole life.

(Casper had sadly carried the cub off back to the graveyard and has buried him next to his own gravestone, complete with a daisy, it lops down, but Casper dosen't care, now he knows that little Ferdie's resting in peace. He's still very sad and sits down to mourn the loss of his little friend. But as he does, there's a surprise waiting for him.) My poor Ferdie. (he sobs some more, unaware that Ferdie's spirit has risen from the grave, as Casper sobs some more, Ferdie, now a ghost himself, makes his way to Casper, and nuzzles up to him like he did when he was alive. As Casper sobs, he feels the cub nuzzle and suddenly, like before, lightens up at the sight.) Oh, Ferdie! (with that, he lets the cub lick him in the face, laughing happily, Ferdie's just like him now, they can live together forever)

Narrator: And so, Casper and Ferdie lived happily ever after.
