Casper's Scare School is an animated series based on the computer film of the same name starring Casper the Friendly Ghost. The series aired on Cartoon Network from October 5, 2009 to November 8, 2012.
After a three year hiatus, the second season was released in 2012, featuring slightly more detailed animation. This season included 52 additional episodes, making a total of 52 episodes. It also featured a brand new voice cast, that replaced all the actors from the first season, along with new writers and a new director.
Plot[]
Casper has to be able to graduate through Scare School before he gets banished to the valley of the shadows forever. So he goes on many adventures along with his friends, Mantha (a zombie) and Ra (a mummy), and the students that attend there.
Reception[]
Casper's Scare School had suffered poor reviews from classic Casper fans, mainly due to the lack of Harvey Comics characters such as Wendy the Good Little Witch, Spooky the Tuff Little Ghost and Hot Stuff the Little Devil. Also, there were changes made to some of the characters (The Ghostly Trio's personalities being the main complaint, since they behaved rather different from their classic counterparts). Also, the new characters were received negatively, with some fans pointing out their similarities to the Harry Potter cast and other people describing them as cliched stereotypes.
The second season even had a cold reception from the audience that enjoyed the first season, criticizing the voice actors and the continuously repetitive scripts. Also, more changes made to characters like Thatch caused the fans to dislike this season. The show holds a 2.8/10 on IMDB which can be interpreted as an "overwhelming dislike".
