Casper the Friendly Ghost is sad that he can make no friends since everyone he meets is afraid of him at the red schoolhouse. Casper tries to make friends with a turtle, a duck with a pelican and a group of ducks but fails. Casper sits on a nest and starts to cry until he notices the hatch of an abandoned egg and becomes the emerging little duck's best friend and protector.
